The PSR-340 and PSR-540 open up new musical possibilities by incorporating advanced features and
dynamic sounds that til now, were unavailable in this class of personal keyboard. No matter what

beautiful stereo-sampled grand piano and either a General MIDI voice set (PSR-340) or the superb

Music Tutor System
For the piano student, the PSR-340 features the YES music tutor system; and for the composer, the
PSR-540 has a 16-track sequencer. Plus, both models have a built-in floppy disk drive with which you
can load song data in a variety of formats, including Standard MIDI Files. Whether you're a beginner or
an advanced player, the PSR-340 and PSR-540 pack a versatile assortment of features to enhance
your musical creativity.
Yamaha Education Suite
The Yamaha Education Suite (YES) is a collection of functions that make it easy for anyone to learn to
play the keyboard.
Smart Chord
Just select a key signature and press a single key - the Smart Chord function will automatically play
the appropriate chord associated with the root note you press and display the notes on the LCD
screen.
Chord Dictionary
Yamaha's exclusive Chord Dictionary will show you how to play any chord as well as display the
names of chords as you play. Great for learning chords and their relationships.
EZ Chord
Never play a wrong chord again. By programming chord changes into the EZ Chord memory, you'll be
able to play back the proper chords with the press of any left-hand key. Ideal for beginners who want to
focus on their timing and right-hand melody.
Portable Grand
A touch of the Portable Grand button lets you enjoy exclusive piano features and styles for realistic
grand piano.
Built-in Floppy Disk Drive
Both PSR-340 and PSR-540 are equipped with a floppy disk drive that allows you to play back MIDI
song data in a variety of formats - including SMF 0 and 1, DOC, and Disklavier formats - and gives you
the benefit of unlimited storage for your original musical compositions.
Outstanding Voices
The PSR-340 and PSR-540 provide a wide range of instruments to match any musical style. The
PSR-340 has 100 panel voices plus 128 General MIDI voices and 10 drum kits, while the PSR-540 has
215 panel voices as well as 480 XG voices and 12 drum kits. Both models feature a remarkable
sounding stereo-sampled Grand Piano voice. Additionally, the PSR-540 includes an expressive "Sweet
Trumpet Voice" taken from Yamaha's flagship PSR-8000 keyboard.
One Touch Setting
The One Touch Setting (OTS) function automatically configures keyboard parameters, such as melody
voice selection, tempo, and accompaniment volume, to optimally match each music style you select.
Easy-to-See Backlit LCD
Never before available in this class of keyboard, a backlit LCD is provided for easy operation in
darkened environments.
Digital Effects
Enhance the sound of any voice with the built-in digital effects processor. You can choose from a wide
range of stunning effects including reverbs, choruses, delays and more.
Songs and Sequencing
The PSR-340 has three built-in Demo Songs for playback enjoyment. Plus, an easy-to-use 6-track
sequencer and three user song locations are provided for you to record performances or compose
original songs. Both Real-time and Step Recording modes are available. For the serious composer, the
PSR-540 is equipped with a 16-track sequencer. Up to 16 instruments parts are available for creating
full-fledged songs. Five demo songs are also included for your listening pleasure.
MIDI / PC Interface
Expand your musical possibilities by connecting the keyboard to external MIDI devices or even to a
personal computer. Both modes are MIDI-equipped, and the PSR-540 has a built-in PC interface as
well, allowing you to take advantage of the vast amount of music software and MIDI files available on
the market and online.
Professionally Arranged Music Styles
Over 100 fully arranged music styles are provided to backup your musical performance. Each style has
its own unique Intro, Main A/B variations, and Ending, as well as four fill-in patterns* for added musical
expression. For playing piano melodies, specially designed Pianist Styles are included in both
keyboard models. In addition, the PSR-540 provides several Custom Styles. All Pianist styles provide
full left-hand accompaniment using single-finger chords.
