Rpland XP-80 won't save SVQ file to a MIDI file

Hello,

I have a sequence which was created from a MIDI file I got off the internet. I saved the file as an .SVQ (I have a Roland XP-80) and did extensive editing to it. I now want to save it as a MIDI format 1 file and when I go to do so, this message appears: "You cannot save this song as an SMF"
Other sequences which I've created from MIDI gotten from the internet (and subsequently saved as .SVQ's) save just fine as MIDI. Is there a setting or control message embedded in MIDI files or in some other parameter in the keyboard itself (or the file) that anyone can point me too to solve this dilemma? Please bear in mind that I'm only versed in basic MIDI.... if the solution involves extensive knowledge, I will need very specific instruction to accomplish this.
