how do i record midis with my keyboard (FIRST TIME USER)

Iv just board a ketboard and am not familiar with the proceedure for recordning my midis.. I have a Casio CTK-800, ith midi in/out..
Do i need a software to record my playing? If so can sombody reccommend somthing? ie freewear. or can it be recorded with windows applications.
