ROLAND VF-1 TURBO FACTS
The Roland VF-1 24-Bit Multiple Effects processor offers high-quality effects
such as reverb, delay, and chorus, plus COSM-based effects such as guitar amp
simulation and microphone modeling. These are based on the effects used in
legendary Roland products such as the VG-8 V-Guitar system, V-Studio Workstations,
and BOSS effects. The VF-1 is ideal for project and pro studios, guitar rigs,
live sound racks and more.
Features include:
- Half-rack multi-effects processor with 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion, 30-bit internal processing
- Dedicated hi-Z Guitar input and chromatic guitar/bass tuner
- Coaxial digital output for all-digital connection
- Stereo input/output capability for serial or parallel effects processing (+4/-10dB)
- Footswitch, expression pedal and MIDI control capability

Restoring the Factory Settings
|
Use the following procedure to reset the VF-1 to the factory settings. You can choose to restore all data, only the utility data, or just the user patch data:
- Press UTILITY.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select "FACT RESET" and press the NUMBER/VALUE dial.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the data that will be initialized and press the NUMBER/VALUE dial.
- Press the NUMBER/VALUE dial to complete the operation,. (If you want to halt the procedure, press EXIT.)
The display will show "Complete!"
| Selecting a Patch by Its Category

The VF-1 contains 400 patches: 200 preset patches and 200 user-programmable patches. The effects are grouped by category so that you can easily locate and organize patches.
- Press CATEGORY to start a category search.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the desired category, then press the NUMBER/VALUE dial.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the desired patch, then press the NUMBER/VALUE dial.
- Press EXIT to turn off the category search function.
Use the following procedure to make changes to an effect Patch.
- In Play mode, press the PARAMETER Right button to display the parameter screen.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the desired effect.
- Press the PARAMETER Right button to display the parameter screen.
- Use the PARAMETER buttons to select the parameter you wish to edit.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to edit the value.
- Press EXIT twice when you are finished.
| Using the Guitar Amp Simulation

Use the following procedure to audition an effect patch using the Guitar Amp Simulation:
- Connect a guitar to the GUITAR Hi-Z input.
- Press CATEGORY
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the "E.GUITAR" category, then press the NUMBER/VALUE dial.
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select "PA 13 VINTAGE TWIN," then press the NUMBER/VALUE dial to load the effect.
- Play the guitar to hear the effected signal.
| Using an Expression Pedal
|
An expression pedal can be connected to the VF-1 to allow "hands-off" control. Use the following procedure to set up an expression pedal for a Wah-Wah effect:
Note: Use only the following expression pedals: BOSS FV-300L + PCS-33 or EV-5, (sold separately).
If you connect any other expression pedals, you risk causing a malfunction and/or damage to the unit.
- Connect an expression pedal to the EXP PEDAL jack on the rear of the VF-1,
- Select a guitar effect (see previous procedure).
- Press the PARAMETER Right button, then use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select the "WAH" effect.
- Press the PARAMETER Right button, then press the NUMBER/VALUE dial until the display reads "ON."
- Press PARAMETER Right to highlight SELECT, then use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select "WAH."
- Press the PARAMETER Left button several times until the display reads "ASSIGN 1 TARGET."
- Use the NUMBER/VALUE dial to select "WAH (PEDAL WAH): PEDAL."
