ROLAND EG-101 TURBO FACTS
The EG-101 Groove Keyboard is a self-contained workstation for up-and-coming groovers.
It combines a keyboard with over 400 dance-oriented sounds and an arranger for instant
grooves. It also has advanced Roland features such as RPS, an arpeggiator, and a built-in
sampler with effects. DJ's can add these effects to any external sound source in realtime.

Initializing the EG-101
Use the following procedure to restore the factory settings:
- Hold WRITE and turn on the power.
Listening to the Demo Songs
Use the following procedure to listen to the demo songs:
- Press DEMO.
- Use the TONE/STYLE/RPS #1-8 buttons to select the desired demo song.
- Press START/STOP.
Selecting Styles and RPS sets
Use the following procedure to select an arranger style:
- Press ARRANGER.
- Press the TONE/STYLE/RPS INTERNAL button.
- Press TONE/STYLE/RPS #1 followed by #8.
- Press SYNCHRO START so it is lit.
- Press CHORD MEMORY so it is lit.
- Press any key left of middle C to start the arranger in the desired key.
- Press STOP.
Use the following procedure to select an RPS set:
- Press RPS.
- Press the TONE/STYLE/RPS INTERNAL button.
- Press TONE/STYLE/RPS #6 followed by #1.
- Press any key in the RPS section of the keyboard to hear the RPS phrases.
Muting Parts
Use the following procedure to mute a Part:
- Press ARRANGER.
- Press the TONE/STYLE/RPS INTERNAL button.
- Press TONE/STYLE/RPS #2 followed by #4.
- Press START/STOP.
- Press the gray PART MANIPULATOR button so "PART MUTE" is lit.
- Use the DRUM, BASS, and #1-6 buttons to mute the desired Part.
Programming the D-Beam
Use the following procedure to set up the D-Beam:
- Select Internal style 12 (as previously described).
- Press D-BEAM ON so it is lit.
- Press the gray D-BEAM button so CUT+RESO is lit.
- Press and hold a key on the right side of the keyboard.
- Move your other hand over the D-Beam controller.
- Press the gray D-BEAM button so TEMPO DOWN is lit.
- Press START/STOP.
- Move your hand over the D-Beam controller.
Sampler and Sampler Effects
Use the following procedure to select banks and play samples:
- Press the SAMPLE PLAYER BANK button to select the desired bank.
- Use the SAMPLE PLAYER #1-4 buttons to playback the samples.
Use the following procedure to add effects to a sample:
- Hold the desired SAMPLE PLAYER #1-4 button.
- Use the SAMPLER EFFECTS PITCH, TIME, FILTER, or RING MOD buttons to apply the effect.
- Rotate the Control knob to select the effects depth.
Use the following procedure to add effects to an external source:
- Connect a mic or CD player to the inputs on the back.
- Hold the SAMPLE PLAYER SOURCE button and press HOLD.
- Start playback of the external source.
- Apply the desired effect (as previously described).
Selecting Tones
Use the following procedure to select a Tone:
- Press the TONE/STYLE/RPS TONE button.
- Press TONE/STYLE/RPS #7 followed by #8.
- Play any key on the keyboard to hear the selected Tone.
