Using a Removable Drive for Backup
With OS 2.00 and higher, a you can backup both SCSI chains (both internal drives [GRP 1] and/or external A & B drives)
to one external removable cartridge as follows:
Format Procedure
- Press CATALOG followed by FUNCTION (as many times as necessary) until Page 1 of the CATALOG options is displayed.
- Press UTILITY [F5].
- Use the cursor buttons to highlight U.F. adjacent to the SCSI ID of the external removable drive (a cartridge that has already been formatted will appear as DISK). Be sure NOT TO highlight a drive that contains valuable data as this procedure will erase all data currently stored on that drive.
- Press FORMAT [F5].
- Use the cursor buttons to select [Group]: "No Group" and [Physical]: "On."
- Confirm the drive listed after "Target:" Again, make sure that the target drive does not contain valuable data.
- Press EXECUTE.
- The unit will display, "Format, Are You Sure?" Press YES [F1] to format the drive.
Backup to Removable Disk Drive
- Select a project to backup by pressing CATALOG and using the cursor buttons to highlight the desired project, then press EXECUTE to load the project.
- Press CATALOG followed by FUNCTION (as many times as necessary) until Page 1 of the CATALOG options is displayed.
- Press BACKUP [F2], followed by PAGE [F5] to display "Removable Disk Backup Project."
- Use the CURSOR buttons to highlight U.F. adjacent to the SCSI ID of the external removable drive (even though we have already formatted the cartridge it will be displayed as U.F. until we save a project to it, at which point it will be displayed as DISK).
- Press SAVE [F2]. If your cartridge has no data stored on it (such as a newly formatted cartridge) go to step 7.
- Use the NAME
[F1] and NAME [F2] buttons to select an empty location (MLT#) on the removable drive.
NOTE: If a named project is chosen during this step, the data of that project will be overwritten.
- Press EXECUTE.
- The unit will display, "Current Project is Saved to Disk Before Backup. Are you sure?" Press YES.
Load Project from Removable Disk Drive
- Press CATALOG, use the cursor buttons to select an empty project location by highlighting it, press EXECUTE to load it.
NOTE: If a named project is chosen during this step, the data of that project will be overwritten.
