KURZWEIL K2600RS SYNTH MODULE WITH SAMPLING

The K2600R, the latest instrument in the evolution of Kurzweil's V.A.S.T. synthesizer/samplers, offers 400+ programs, state of the art interactive sounds, effects, and V.A.S.T. flexible architecture, all packed into a 3U rack mountable module.

12 MB of the highest quality sounds are provided and can be expanded to 44 MB via four plug in sound ROM option boards (accepts K2500 Orchestral and Contemporary ROM option boards plus 2 additional ROM expansion boards). All K2600s include Kurzweil's award winning stereo grand piano, KB3 tone wheel organ models, and a 24 band vocoder model. Interactive setups provide grooves, arpeggiated patterns and complimentary performance sounds with lots of real time controls to explore. The 32 track interactive song arranger allows complex sequences to be controlled and triggered from a variety of sources.

The K2600 can be expanded to 128MB with 72 pin SIMMs. The K2600 sampling option provides 20 bit digital output and allows external analog or digital stereo signals to be processed 'live' through the entire architecture in real-time. The 8 channel DIO-26 option allows the K2600 to process 8 incoming digital signals via the DMTi (from ADAT, TDIF, or AES/EBU sources) and send processed signals out separately or digitally mix them to stereo (analog or AES/EBU orSPDIF) with effects + V.A.S.T. processing and real-time control. 8 analog balanced (or unbalanced) outputs are standard, as are the dual 25 pin SCSI connectors for external storage. An internal HD can be added. Reads most popular sample formats including Roland S700 series (from SCSI only), Akai S900, S950, S1000, S3000, Ensoniq EPS, EPS16, ASR10. It can also import and export .WAV, AIFF, and .MID files. K2600 series instruments read all K2000, K2500 formats as well, including sequences, programs samples etc.

The K2600R is more than a "workstation": it's a "Production Station". It enables you to complete a project - from conception to final master - without leaving the K2600R environment. The K2600R has the power and connectivity you need for the most challenging projects: true 48-note polyphony; easy upgradability; 60 internal digital sound processing functions; up to 44 MB of internal ROM sounds; sample RAM expansion to 128 MB; dual SCSI ports; a myriad of interfacing options; and program memory expansion to 1.5 MB.

Today, more than ever, your instrument needs access to modern mass-storage devices - and the K2600R delivers. Dual SCSI ports provide lightning-fast transfer of information via hard disks, CD-ROMs, removable cartridge drives, magneto-opticals and other mass-storage devices. The K2600R also supports rapid transfer of samples between computer and sampler via the SMDI protocol.

The K2600R also has eight analog outputs (which double as insert points) plus Stereo Mix Out. The sampling option provides digital I/O's, including AES/EBU or SPDIF, for the highest quality sampling and mastering. The DMTi Option provides a proprietary digital interface with the popular ADAT and DA-88 digital multitrack recorders.

The K2600R's "Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology" (V.A.S.T.®) offers 60 DSP functions arranged in 31 algorithms, allowing you to process up to 48 voices separately. Add powerful expression to acoustic instruments by adding wave-shaper parameters; add distortion and resonant filters to create the ultimate tine piano. With 128 MB of RAM, you can sample an entire section of a recording project, then process and mix it through the K2600R's extensive DSP architecture. The possibilities are V.A.S.T..

A full-function 32-Track Sequencer is built into the K2600R. Modeled after the finest software sequencers, it's equipped with 16 song tracks, 16 arrangement tracks, Automated Mixdown and Multi-MIDI Channel record.

With a maximum internal resolution of 768 ppqn, sequencer functions include: Linear, Pattern and Step Drum Machine Record Modes, Reference Quantize, Nondestructive Track Editing, Cut, Copy, Paste facilities, Advanced Auto Arranger functions (allows sequences to be triggered from keys with velocity sensitivity) - and more.

Reference Quantize allows you to quantize to a "groove", even if the track was recorded without a click. The Event Edit List, with view filters and audible scroll, enables precise, computer-style editing. And if you've already worked with a computer sequencer, the K2600R imports and exports .MID files on DOS-formatted media.

The K2600R has a sophisticated hierarchical directory system which is both intuitive and powerful, allowing objects to be organized into user- created sub-directories. You can select, preview, load and save individual objects (samples, programs, setups) or user-selected groups from any connected media.

Import/Export of AIFF and .WAV samples provides access to the largest sound designer and PC sound libraries available. To save valuable time, you can create macros which automate the loading of complex multi-files. Because the K2600R is DOS-compatible, you can also format your hard drive and transfer information directly via your computer.
