Ddrum

The basic idea behind ddrum products is to combine superior studio-sound quality and flexibility with playability and sound control. Ever since Clavia's first drum product, the Clavia Digital Percussion Plate, fast and accurate triggering, high dynamic range and outstanding sound quality has been important and appreciated features. Still today, ddrum offers the market's fastest trig response times, the best dynamic resolution and best sound quality.

Natural feeling is very important. The ddrum4 cast precision pads feature real drum heads for natural response. Thanks to sophisticated technology, both velocity, pressure and position detection is possible. ddrum4 with the Cast precision pads, is the only electronic drum system on the market offering all these features. The ddrum4 offers fast and accurate acoustic triggering without the need to muffle your drum heads! Our specially designed and patented acoustic triggers are the perfect solution for drummers that want to combine acoustic drum sounds with top-quality studio sounds.

ddrum4 with ddrum Triggers offers the same fast trig response and dynamics range as with the cast precision pads. Unlimited amount of sounds! This is the fact if you use ddrum4. The ddrum soundlibrary holds plenty of multi-samples offering very realistic sound reproduction. And if that isn't enough for you, the ddrum4 holds the feature to download samples via MIDI sample dump from any sampler that offers that possibility. Imagine the possibility to use your own recorded sounds. This makes the ddrum concept as flexible as you want. At a touch of a button, you can switch from a 60's Bebop kit to a gated hard rock kit in a split second. That's what we call flexibility!

ddrum4, is a 10 channel digital drum system holding a flash memory. Besides the traditional features that comes with a ddrum set Clavia have developed a realistic hi-hat controller, mountable on a traditional Hi-hat stand, and cymbals offering both bell and a choke function. An impressive sound library comes with the system. Besides the over 300 high quality sounds that resides inside the unit, the user have access to another 900 samples on a special ddrum4 sound library CD that comes with the unit.

Introduction

The ddrum hardware basically consists of two parts: the sound module, the "brain", and the controllers (pads, cymbals, Triggers etc.). Today, ddrum4 is the model in production and this page shows what's available for the ddrum4 system.

Thanks to an innovative design the ddrum4 is able to simulate the behavior of acoustic percussive sounds in many new ways. Several dynamic filter algorithms have been developed to reproduce samples more naturally than ever before. Further development of Clavia's Drumhead Vibration Algorithm will change the relationship of the overtones, between every new stroke, in a startlingly natural way.

Easier to use

Thanks to the newly developed ddrum Palette system you are able to change individual instruments with just one touch - without having to change a complete Kit setup.

There's a BIG difference

Since 1983 Clavia has been the leader of the digital percussion business, which has given ddrum the knowledge to open new doors in the world of digital technology. Now we proudly introduce the ddrum4, the next logical step in the evolution of electronic percussion. The ddrum4 system offers new levels in terms of playback features, sample dumps and audio performance.

With a large memory capacity, compact design, incomparable triggering response, and superb sound reproduction, the ddrum4 qualifies as one of the most ideal and useful digital percussion systems in the world. The intelligent design, coupled with "down to earth" playing features, sets ddrum4 apart from all others. Nothing else comes close!

Boosted Sound Memory

After many years (since 1983) of experience of sampling percussion sounds, Clavia has developed a new powerful algorithm for storing 16-bit linear percussive sounds in a highly efficient format. The new storing format is based on algorithms for analyzing redundancy in percussive sound with respect to the important transient response of a typical percussive instrument. Thanks to this effective storing format, the memory capacity is multiplied 4-6 times depending on the types of samples.

The ddrum4's extensive internal sound library offers hundreds of kicks, snares, toms, cymbals and various other percussion sounds. All of the sounds in the Internal sound library have been specially selected and carefully sampled to make them as genuine as their acoustic counterparts. Thanks to the new memory format, the sounds will ring just the way you want them to.

The ddrum4 brain comes out of the box with more than 300 different samples that can be easily varied with a special algorithm for up to 10 variations of each instrument.
