Akai MPC2000XL MIDI Production Center

See what you get
It starts with a 16-bit stereo sampling engine and 32-voice polyphony, 2MB of RAM expandable to 32MB with industry-standard SIMMs, dynamic resonant filters on each voice, time stretch, pitch shift, graphic cut-and-paste sample editing, and resampling. Stick with us because there's a lot more. You get memory capacity for 256 sounds, 300,000 note, 64-track sequencing (either linear or drum-machine-style pattern), freely assignable simultaneous multi-track recording, powerful sequence editing, and folder file management to help you keep on top of your projects. And did we mention the unique Note Variation slider for control of tuning, attack, decay or filtering as you record or after in a separate pass? There's more, too, so read on and find out.

All the sounds you could want
With so many sounds to choose from, you'll probably have trouble knowing where to start. This is some of what's on the menu: the dedicated MPC library, Akai S1000 and S3000 sample libraries, the E-mu EIIIx library, Roland S750/S760 libraries, .WAV files from PC disks, and last (but certainly not least) your own samples.

Get connected
Want to put the MPC at the heart of your MIDI studio? You've got it, thanks to two independent, mergeable MIDI inputs, two independent outputs for 32 MIDI channels, sync via MIDI Clock or MIDI Time Code, and control of external gear through MIDI Machine Control. You can import and export Type 0 and Type 1 Standard MIDI Files, and even record on all 32 MIDI channels simultaneously (and freely assign any MIDI input channel to any internal MIDI channel you like) to transfer sequences from an external sequencer in a single pass.

Easily expandable
You can expand the MPC2000XL, too. The IB-M208P adds 8 individual analog outputs and digital S/PDIF I/O. The EB16 4-bus multi-effects processor lets you add effects entirely in the digital domain. Want SMPTE sync? Add the IC-M2TC SMPTE chip for multi-frame-rate timecode reading and generation. And if you just have to have your favorite samples on board all the time, store them in the FMX008 flash ROM board.
